PEER REVIEW PROCESS

  1. All authors interested in publishing in Littera Scripta. Revista de Filosofía must submit their proposals to the email envios@litterascripta.cl. The submission should include the manuscript (in Word format) attached to the email, along with a separate Word document that contains a brief CV of the author. This CV should outline the author’s academic affiliation, academic degree, and include their Orcid identifier.
  2. The Editor and/or the Editorial Committee reserve the right to initially reject any submission that fails to meet the academic standards of originality and contribution to the field. Additionally, texts that do not adhere to rigorous research practices or fail to comply with the established guidelines for authors may also be rejected.
  3. The submitted articles will be evaluated for compliance with the journal’s editorial standards. They will then be reviewed anonymously by specialists appointed by the Editor or Editorial Committee.
  4. Articles will be assessed using a “double blind” peer review system. Each article will be submitted to two independent peer reviewers who are not affiliated with the journal’s editorial board. This process does not apply to reviews and translations, which will be evaluated by the editorial team.
  5. Each external peer reviewer will submit a report to the Editor providing their assessment. The Editor will then make a final decision, which can fall into one of four mutually exclusive categories: i) accepted; ii) accepted with modifications; iii) rejected but eligible for re-evaluation if substantial modifications are made (meaning the article could be improved to become publishable in a future issue); or iv) rejected.
  6. If the evaluators have conflicting opinions on an article (one recommending acceptance and the other recommending rejection), the article will be sent to a third peer reviewer. This reviewer will then make a recommendation to the Editor and the Editorial Committee regarding whether to accept or reject the proposal.
  7. The Editor agrees to provide a final response within three months.
  8. To ensure that the recommendations provided by the evaluators have been properly addressed, the author will receive a changes form. This form must be submitted along with the revised version of the proposal. In the changes form, the author is required to explain their understanding of the evaluators’ suggestions and detail the amendments made in accordance with the specialists’ feedback.
  9. If a manuscript is accepted with modifications, the author will have 15 calendar days to submit the revised article along with the necessary changes form. If this deadline is not met, the Editor will assume that the author has chosen to withdraw from the publication process.
